Free download office program like spreadsheet but not one, kind of ledger one, but a little of both.?

I am trying to find a inventory - collectible - ledger paper - spreadsheet kinda program to download for my grandson...so he can keep track of his collection (of his little toy people/monsters) so the columns and rows he can type in any information he wants...spreadsheets don't work for him, he's to little. Oh and free is best since I really don't know how long it will actually last in his computer. Thanks!
