For NFL fans:What can the NFL do to prevent more players from dying at such young ages from different things?
As sad as it is and how often it seems to happen, most cases are uncontrollable. Noone can see someone breaking into a players house and shooting him during a robbery. Noone can control a boating accident, even though things can be avoided to help prevent it, such as boating while intoxicated and learning to swim. Much of these things aren't a result of what a player does or what type of person he is. But overall, the league is trying to many things, such as mentor players who have different problems to try to keep them out of life threatening cirstances. All pro-sports have tradgedies and most of them are just that. But for whatever reason some NFL players want to uphold some type of "GANGSTA" reputation and they can't let go of that lifestyle. Plaxico Burress was lucky to shoot himself in the leg instead of someone else, or himself lethally. The lineman for the Jags last year was in some type of possible drug, or prostitution activities outside an apartment around 4 a.m. and got shot to death setting in his S.U.V. on the side of the road. NFL players are even going as far as to have armor built on to their vehicle, like military HUM-V's to make their vehicles bullet proof. That's how bad it has gotten and in some cases they could have targets on their backs because of previous life styles, or sometimes jealousy from people who knew them in the past. Who knows? But yeah its sad to lose so many pro athletes, but it is as sad as losing innocent, hard working, regular every day people that we lose everyday? It shouldn't be but athletes are worshipped like sometype of gods, so that makes them more important i guess. Normal people die everyday and there is nothing to stop it. Athletes die sometimes and there isn't a whole lot anyone can do to stop that either.
